From Half-Light Fell
for string quartet
Written for the FLUX Quartet in 2019, premiered in the Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, Yokohama, Japan.
Within the seven miniatures of this work, the listener is transported through the narrative of a sunset. What is particularly inspiring when watching a sunset is the light’s unique ability to radically transform a static landscape into a dynamic and colorful drama. The piece takes a simple harmonic structure and explodes its contained possibilities into a multitude of rich variety, much like the sunset does to a plain landscape.
